This 1926 CG Conn “New Wonder II” Alto Saxophone is in fantastic condition - and is playing wonderfully over the entire range. It has just had a complete repad and full setup (including lapping the neck tenon/receiver). This is perfect someone who wants a really great sounding horn from the golden era of saxophone manufacture at a great price. It’s perfect for jazz, blues and soul with a rich resonant tone and plenty of projection.
This saxophone has been relacquered at some stage in its past, however the neck looks as though it still has original lacquer. The engraving is easy to see, but the new lacquer has smoothed it over somewhat. The rolled tone holes are in excellent condition and this horn is a great player! Excellent intonation also. The microtuner neck is sealing and working ok, however it does look like it’s been worked on in the past, so it is recommended to just pull the mouthpiece on and off conventionally, like any other horn.
It comes in its original case in OK condition. This will need to be padded out somewhat in order to keep the horn safe. Alternatively, I can supply a new case from BAM, Protec or SKB.
Also in the case is an old neckstrap, cork grease and 2 mouthpieces. A Brilhart Level Air 5* and a Rico Metalite C5.
This instrument comes with a 12 month warranty on all mechanical parts and pads.
