*SOLD* 1954 Martin Committee III Baritone Saxophone
This 1954 Martin Committee iii Baritone Saxophone is in excellent playing condition, having been repadded quite recently and Rob Davidson at Sax Alive has just gone over it again prior to sale. It plays huge with lots of thick tone and excellent response over the entire range. This is a pleasure to play and these horns are some of prettiest around!
Original lacquer throughout. It has had a bit of work over the years, with some careful repairs on the pigtail top bow and the neck has been completely replaced (with a Martin Committee iii neck from the SAME serial range!) and it was extended slightly to make it easier to keep this beauty in tune (work done by Conrad Exton at Dr Sax). It plays huge and intonation is really very good. This will be absolutely awesome for jazz, soul, funk or blues etc.
There have been a couple of resolders and there are some very minor dings but nothing noticeable or that affects the way it plays.
It comes in a BAM flight case with wheels in excellent condition. It has backpack straps and is very clean. Just a few scratches. These are over $2000 new.
The current owner has been enjoying playing it with a Morgan Indiana 6 XL (made and designed for Morgan by Eric Griffenhagen) that was purchased specifically for this horn and could be a continued partnership with this sale at a $100 discount. See baritone mouthpieces.
