*SOLD* 1968 Selmer Mark VI Low A Baritone Saxophone (Serial: 156,XXX)

This is an exceptional playing Selmer Mark VI from 1968, serial number #156,XXX. It is still in wonderful condition throughout. The previous owner used it while studying and as an amateur musician and it has sat unplayed for over 30 years. This horn has been well loved and treated very well, with no sign of any damage. In particular the pigtail and neck are in exceptional condition, which is very rare for these horns. The rest of the body, bow and bell are similarly in amazing condition, with only a few small dings on the bow and one on the front of the bell (it is very hard to spot!) which is expected on horns of this age.
 
The lacquer is very interesting as the bell and bow are a gorgeous dark honey colour and the rest of the horn (body/pigtail/keys) are a lighter yellow shade. Without knowing exactly what happened prior to the last owner, I can only speculate; it looks as though some of it has been relacquered at some point - although it is extremely well done and the engraving is still super sharp. It has not been buffed at all. I would guess it is a factory part-relacquer because it is so seamless.
 
It has just had a thorough service and setup by Rob Davidson at Sax Alive with a bunch of pads replaced. It is now playing amazingly well with a distinctive focussed Selmer tone and ease of use - it resonates like crazy throughout and the articulation is crisp and well defined. Intonation is excellent throughout.
 
It is sold in its original black Selmer case in great condition (latches work well), however it would be highly recommended to house it in a more protective case if possible to help keep this instrument in wonderful playing condition.
