1971 Low Bb Selmer Mark VI Baritone Saxophone. #187,439 serial number.
This instrument is a great player as is - with plenty of resonance and fatness. It has a beautiful tone too, with the right mouthpiece setup. In the demo above I'm using an Otto Link Super Tone Master 8*.
This baritone has been played by a professional who has moved onto another instrument. The horn has been partnered with an aftermarket Selmer neck - it’s a Super Action 80 neck in excellent condition. This Bari has been relacquered at some stage in the past - a relatively nice job. There have been some repairs - the low C guard feet have been resoldered, body neck receiver has a crude yet effective repair, the bow has been dented and a repair has been made. Otherwise it’s in very good condition for its age - albeit with some minor bumps and scratches as you'd expect from an instrument of this age. Pearl key touches are lovely and undamaged, key guards are excellent also. The pads are excellent mostly, although the left hand pads are mid life and will need to be replaced at some stage in the near future. It is currently playing great however!
It comes in its original wooden Selmer case in fair condition, so the horn will need some padding and protection… or a new case! There is a new Protec available.
This instrument is being sold on consignment, so is offered as is in photos. There is no warranty provided because the horn has not been serviced through 2nd Winds.
A great horn for someone wanting to get into the Selmer Mark VI market.
