"...one of the best sounding horns I’ve ever played"

This is a very interesting and super rare saxophone - a solid copper Keilwerth SX model CR Tenor Saxophone from 1989, the year the Berlin Wall came down. This instrument was made in West Germany and it is essentially an early SX90R, but made out of copper. From the information I’ve received from various Keilwerth aficionados, this was one of approx 5 that were made for the Japanese market. It has rolled tone holes throughout. The roses engraved on the bell are exquisite.

It has no damage whatsoever, however there is some spotting, oxidation and lacquer loss on the keys and body (see pics) as well as a couple of scratches and 1 very small ding near the low C tone hole. It looks as though a dent may have been removed from the bow area in the past - possibly. If so, this has been done exceptionally well. It is in amazing condition for a 35 year old horn that has been played professionally.

This horn has been completely overhauled by Rob Davidson at Sax Alive and plays perfectly over the entire range and it is now one of the best sounding horns I’ve ever played. It’s a huge, direct and powerful tone, similar in sound to the best American horns of the 40's and 50’s.
