2002 Keilwerth SX90R Silver Tenor Saxophone - solid Nickel Silver
DEMO VIDEO: https://youtu.be/CLSLkT_8pMg
This is a spectacular playing Julius Keilwerth SX90R Tenor Saxophone - manufactured in 2002 with a solid nickel silver tube with a brushed finish! These Keilwerths are inspired by the large bore American tenors and sound huge.
The silver construction also gives the sound a distinctive and robust core - it projects like no other horn! It’s not just loud though, it’s got infinite potential for tone - and it can really get going when pushed, you can actually feel the body of the horn resonating in your hands. It’s a flexible horn; great for jazz, blues, rock, funk, soul and contemporary styles of playing. It features rolled tone holes (similar to a Conn) which helps to make this horn sing - and gives more surface area for the pads to seat well.
There is lots of body to the tone at lower volumes and the subtone is supreme. I really love playing this horn and it was setup for me personally - however it’s not a good time in my life to be changing horns and I’ve decided to let it go... sadly :(
This instrument has just had a full check over and extensive service with Rob Davidson at Sax Alive. The pads are excellent throughout and a bunch of pads have just been replaced (G#, Eb, C#, all palm keys) - also a crescent was installed in the E tone hole to help with intonation at an often difficult spot on the tenor. There is no damage whatsoever! The horn has some spotting and oxidation to the lacquer in places (particularly on the bow area and on the brass keys), with the the finish still at around 80%+, apart from this, it kind of looks new. The engraving is sharp and detailed.
It comes in a good condition Protec zip up shaped case. The interior is excellent, however the exterior has some wear and tears in the material, but it still functions very well and the zips are good too.
This instrument comes with a 12 month warranty on all mechanical parts and pads.
